Hello Patriots,
Our next meeting is scheduled on Tuesday April
the 5th. The time is 7:00 pm and will be in the community meeting room at the
Bloomfield public library. We will be updated on the status of the Hoosiers For
Conservative Senate's efforts to remove RINO Lugar from the US Senate in 2012.
Matt Ubelhor is going to make an effort to be with us and update us on the many
State legislative issues and answer questions. Some bills are still active, but
some have been killed by the several democrats that have chosen to go AWOL and
hide in Illinois.
We need to begin planning for some activities for
the 4th of July and other area festivals and pick a date for at least one big
rally of our own this year.
Also, please plan to attend our state wide
Tax-Day Tea party Rally at our state capital on Friday, April 15 Time: 5:00 -
6:30 pm EST Location: Indiana Statehouse, 200 West Washington Street,
Indianapolis (West side). Several great speakers will be there.

Local News:
Our Linton mayor Tom Jones died unexpectedly on
March 3 after returning from a trip to Washington DC. He was finishing his last
term of office and today his wife has been chosen to finish out his term.
More:
There was a Owen County Tea Party meeting held in
Spencer on Saturday evening and Mike Delph was the featured speaker. I was able
to listen for part of the meeting and was very impressed with this Indiana State
Senator. He has proposed some very good and tough legislation to help control
the illegal immigration problem imposed on our state because the Fed is ignoring
their Constitutional responsibility.

A town hall meeting was held in Loogottee with
Rep. Mark Messmer, District 63, Rep. Matt Ubelhor District 62 and Sen. Lindel
Hume District 48. There were many issues addressed but the majority of the time
was on the school reforms and the missing democrat representatives that are
preventing a quorum and halting all legislation. Many teachers and some union
representatives were there along with a few Tea Party folks. Mr. Hume the
democrat senator defended the Urbana Illinois Hoosier's in hiding. Fines are
being imposed for each day they don't show up to work at the Indiana General
Assembly.
The video link below is worth watching and
sharing with others.
The End of the Beginning

A Bit Of History and Observance:
From Greencastle Defenders of Liberty,
At about dawn on the 19th of April in the year
1775 a band of farmers stood their ground against the best army in the world.
They were ordered to lay down their weapons and disperse. Heavily outnumbered,
their leader, Captain John Parker, ordered them to disperse. As they began to
drift away a shot was fired and then a full volley by the British. Eight
Americans lay dead and more wounded. This was at a town called Lexington in
Massachusetts.
The British marched on to the town of Concord
where they had hoped to capture troublemakers Samuel Adams and John Hancock as
well as confiscate the arms and ammunition they believed were stored there. Word
of the early morning's events spread like wildfire and the Minutemen came from
far and wide and assembled on a hill just outside of town. The British finished
their search, destroyed what they found (most had been moved) and marched on the
North Bridge where about 400 farmers waited. Warning shots were fired by the
British but the militia held fast. Then the British Regulars fired a volley
killing two. Instead of running the farmers fired back. This time the British
fled. Back into the town they went, regrouped and then began marching back to
Boston. They were fired upon and harassed all the way back, by farmers and
citizens who had simply had enough. In the end, the British suffered 73 killed,
174 wounded and 26 missing. The Americans lost 49 killed, 39 wounded and 5
missing. A bunch of farmers had defeated an army looked upon as the best of the
best. I cannot imagine what they felt that day. Knowing that they sent the
British Regulars back to Boston in defeat, yet also knowing they would be back,
stronger and more determined, to punish the farmers who had dared stand up to
them.... First blood had been drawn......
In 1836 Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote a poem entitled
"Concord Hymn" which I'm sure most of the Tea Party People have read, if not,
please do. At the dedication of the monument at the site of the North Bridge on
July 4th, 1837 it was sung as a hymn. The first stanza reads...
"By the rude bridge that arched the flood, Their
flag to April's breeze unfurled; Here once the embattled farmers stood; and
fired the shot heard round the world."
And now the reason for this email. Since I went
to my first Tea Party event on April 15, 2009 at the Indianapolis Statehouse I
have been trying to come up with an idea that would encourage more people to
read their history books. To learn about how this country was started. To become
involved. In joining the Greencastle Defenders of Liberty I found many
likeminded people. I have enjoyed greatly the programs and the bonds of
friendship that have come from it and yet, I feel there should be, could be
more. I have spoken to some of you about my thoughts of a once a month meeting
not being enough to keep interest high. Maybe this idea will help....
April 19, 2011 will be the 236th anniversary of
the Battles of Lexington and Concord. This was the start of the American
Revolution, the start of true Liberty and Freedom. The day when the farmers said
"enough" and made their stand. In Massachusetts it is known as Patriots' Day,
Maine also recognizes it and it is observed by school children statewide in
Wisconsin. Why not Indiana? Why not by the Tea Party Groups? Do we not have the
political "friends" who could make this happen in this state? How can anyone of
any political party not want to recognize these brave farmers, the people who
set us all free? In doing so it could serve as a testament to the Tea Party
Movement of today, A rally point, an accomplishment, a day on the calendar that
will bond us to those brave farmers. This could be a way, a reason, to bring the
Tea Party groups in this state together for a common cause. Instead of always
waving signs and protesting we could use this day to teach, to remember. Much
like the Constitutional classes only more widespread. I find it hard to believe
that Jim Baird, Richard Mourdock, Mike Pence, Mike Delph, Connie Lawson, Larry
Bucshon, etc would not embrace this totally. How could they not? We have the
people in the right places to get this done and we have the sentiment among the
populous to push this forward. We only have to make this happen by planting the
seed, emailing our representatives and elected officials, calling them and
presenting the idea.... pushing the idea. I have no interest in this becoming a
federal holiday where government workers get a paid day off, merely a day of
observance that is always 0n the 19th day of April. A day of remembrance of
those to whom we owe so much. I have no idea why this hasn't been done before
now as this world changing event was nearly a year and three months prior to the
signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Referring back to Captain John Parker, the head
of the militia at Lexington, who said these words as the British Regulars were
approaching them on the green:
"Stand your ground. Don't fire unless fired upon,
but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here."
I say "Let it begin HERE" in Indiana, with the
Tea Party. Let's lead the way in getting this date and day put on our calendar
for Indiana and who knows, maybe the entire country. Talk about positive
credibility.....
What say you, my Patriot Friends? What say
you........?
