Hello Patriots,

Our meeting on the 1st of March, Tuesday, will be held in the community room at the Bloomfield Library at 7pm.

There is much going on and we will try to get questions answered about the Greene County zoning issue, the Indiana state school reform underway and the suggested county government reforms that Governor Daniels is promoting. Commissioner Graves will answer questions on the current zoning issue facing our county. Brent Kent will brief us on the school reform underway in the state legislature. I am expecting state senator John Waterman to fill us in on the proposed county government reform. ---- Craig

Current Hot Federal Legislation:

All the Republicans and one Democrat Representatives from Indiana voted to extend the Patriot Act provisions.
On Motion to Suspend the Rules and Pass
02/08/2011
House Roll Call No. 26
112nd Congress, 1st Session
Failed: 277-148

How the U.S. House from Indiana voted: voted
• Rep. Larry Bucshon (R-8) Y
• Rep. Dan Burton (R-5) Y
• Rep. Andre Carson (D-7) N
• Rep. Joe Donnelly (D-2) Y
• Rep. Mike Pence (R-6) Y
• Rep. Todd Rokita (R-4) Y
• Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-3) Y
• Rep. Peter Visclosky (D-1) N
• Rep. Todd Young (R-9) Y

26 bold Tea Party supported freshmen conservative Republican congressmen crossed and voted with democrats to try to stop the Patriot Act in its current form. Why? They feel it is unconstitutional law.

UPDATE: This was brought to the floor today and just passed.. The Patriot Act has been Extended.

*****************************

Spending cuts for this year's remaining budget has been pressured by the Tea Party to the 100 billion level, a very good start.

Remember that the previous legislature failed to operate on any budget at all and have been using continuing resolution to keep the government running. A real budget must be balanced and not take us into deeper debt. The Tea Party Patriots do NOT want our US debt limit raised. This is an absolute way of forcing the federal government to bring their spending under control. In other words: We the People must demand they cut up their unlimited credit card! It is irresponsible to do anything else. Unfortunately there are many Republicans that are cowering to fear just like the days of TARP.

Defunding of Obamacare by Representative King of Iowa was just defeated in committee as I was writing this.

Current Hot State Legislation:

Panel OKs bill saying life begins at conception

ASSOCIATED PRESS

INDIANAPOLIS — Doctors would be required to tell women seeking an abortion in Indiana that human life begins at conception and a fetus might feel pain at or before 20 weeks under a proposal approved Wednesday by a Senate health committee. The Senate Committee on Health and Provider Services’ 7-2 vote sends the bill to the full Senate, which approved tighter informed consent legislation in recent years that didn’t advance in the Democratic-controlled House.

Senator Mike Delph's Immigration Bill 590, passed a Senate committee 8 to 1.

The bill now goes to the Senate Appropriations Committee because of its fiscal impact. While similar legislation has passed the Senate in the past, it’s died in the House when Democrats controlled that chamber. Now Republicans control both the Senate and House, increasing the likelihood that it will become law.

In committee..

HB 1003 enhances opportunities for low and middle-income students by improving the state’s Scholarship Tax Credit Program and creating a new scholarship program that allows more students to attend the school of their choice.

In Indiana it was Sen. Mike Delph who proposed SB114 to require candidates to provide a certified copy of their birth certificate and include an affirmation they meet the Constitution's requirements for the president. It calls for the candidates "to certify that the candidate has the qualifications provided in Article 2, Section 1, Clause 5 of the Constitution" and accompany that certification with "a certified copy of the candidate's birth certificate, including any other documentation necessary to establish that the candidate meets the qualifications." Joining similar legislation of now 11 states ---

Senate Bill 56 has been introduced by Senator Travis Holdman in the 2011 General Assembly. Senate Bill 56 would take away the freedom churches presently have to operate a child care ministry without government control. If the government can control a church child care ministry then other ministries of the church are at risk too, including: day camps, Christian schools, Vacation Bible Schools and Sunday schools!
