Tea Party Declaration We are the Voice of the People. We seek to give the average citizen a say in our government and provide a forum to inspire fellow citizens. The Tea Party believes in the rule of law under the Constitution. We are law abiding citizens and non-violent. We do not support extremism in any form. We believe in the power of the ballot. The Tea Party is non-partisan. We believe that the current dangers facing our country transcend issues of partisan politics. Therefore we welcome Independents, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians and others who are dedicated to the rule of law, limited government, Democracy, Liberty, and Free Enterprise. We believe in the worth of all citizens. Therefore the Tea Party does not criticize or confront anyone on the basis of race, creed, color, or national origin. The Tea Party believes that our Republic is the best form of government for our People. We believe, as did our Founders, that our people are granted unalienable rights by our Creator among which are: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Therefore we oppose those who are attempting to turn our country into a Socialist or Communist state. We oppose Marxism in all its forms. The Tea Party believes that Judeo-Christian Principles are the proper and necessary foundation of this free Republic. We believe that religion should be welcomed in governmental activities and in the public forum. We believe that separation of church and state leads to government without compassion, ethics, or morality. We support the moderating influence of Judeo-Christian values in the exercise of governmental power. The Tea Party believes that Free Enterprise is the engine of America’s prosperity and culture. We encourage businesses whose dedication and ingenuity provide jobs for our People. We believe that the vast majority of business people are honest hardworking individuals who care about their workers and our country. We believe that businesses should be free of excessive governmental control and red tape. Consequently we reject the Marxist concept of class warfare. The Tea Party believes in private property and private ownership of businesses. We oppose all those who engage in the confiscation of private property, burdensome regulation, socialist control of the economy, confiscatory taxation, and the redistribution of income. The Tea Party believes in limited government as framed by the Founders of the Constitution. We believe that all powers not expressly granted to the government by the Constitution belong to the People. The Tea Party believes that the wealth of our citizens belongs to them and not to the Federal Government. Therefore, we believe that taxation should be limited to supporting the proper and limited role of government and should not be used to achieve social change or to buy votes. The Tea Party believes that politicians are the servants of the People and the Constitution. We believe that politicians are responsible for voting the desires of the People within the bounds of the Constitution. We believe they are accountable for their actions. Therefore, we publish the voting records of public officials. The Tea Party challenges officials who engage in elitism, dishonesty, corruption, or squandering of the public treasure. We oppose those who bow to the dictates of a party elite and vote against the will of the People. We oppose those who attempt to destroy Democracy and Free Enterprise. We believe that politicians who do not represent the People should be turned out of office. The Tea Party believes in honesty and truth. Honesty and truth are the best weapons in our arsenal and our public utterances and publications are verified for accuracy and truthfulness. We are the Voice of the People.
